a vibrant coffee table

the stone styling of a coffee table

it's no secret that we have an infatuation with our stones, how could we not...have you seen them?!? the story of this coffee table begins with a single onyx that is golden + deep red to the core. we have dubbed it our iron man onyx (it's so special we possess the only one). we were playing around with our stone sizes + could not stop thinking about a balanced 12 x 12 piece. we thought it was just perfect for a coffee table, so we took our iron man onyx for a little ride. mesmerized by the gold, milky ivory + deep red of this stone we began picturing what this arrangement would look like.

the first prop we added to this coffee table styling is the most obvious, an arrangement of dried flowers. this pulled at the earthy tones of our stone, introducing a calming presence to our space. there's a reason nature + nature pair well and the right arrangement can pull on elements of the stone you didn't even know existed.

but nature wasn't enough, and since a coffee table is something we look at every day, we needed a little vibrance. one of our newest obsessions has been a catch-all dish for our matches. there is something old world about it...simply because it is so extraneous. after all, you light a match + should dispose of it right? not in this case. oh no, you leave it on your dish for delayed toss out. it's almost like a collection of little memories, each match representing an isolated instant with a different emotion when that candle was lite for a separate reason. this specific Jonathan Adler dish is funky + SO red it highlighted the rich burgundy elements of our stone.

in order to feed our catch-all infatuation we must use matches. there is something about the action of picking up a pretty little box, popping it open to find colored edges and then striking those edges swiftly against a grain to ignite that flame. the main purpose behind our stones is to encourage intention in your daily routine, rendering that routine a ritual. the introduction of matches to our day to day was born out of this stone, especially because we now had somewhere pretty to place our matchbox on!

to round out the vibrance in our coffee table arrangement we added a bit of vintage. we were gifted this chic little notepad from Italy, and since our namesake is Italian we paired a bit of Pisa with a bit of Parma to give it more flair. we love our little biodegradable pen :)

one last finishing touch. we love a good coffee table book, after all what is a coffee table without a few coffee table books? we adore the craftsmanship and beautiful photos of an Assouline book. so in keeping with our Italian theme + our love for the past we opened this book to a chic picture of Capri.

what started with one elegant stone inspired us to create a coffee table styling that brings in nature, vibrance + vintage. this is the result when you let a stone redefine your space.

now it's your turn. pick a stone that you are drawn to and the rest will take care of itself!
